"I just want to say thank you for the box of knitted & crocheted hats.  Our patients have such a great time choosing one to wear out of the clinic.  My patients think it is just wonderful that the hats come from all over the states. I had one sweet little lady, pointing to the tag, she said, "this lady made this hat special for me?"  I said yes ma'am, she sure did.  It brought tears to her eyes.  If you have not witnessed a patient getting to choose a hat, it is a wonderful experience.  You have no idea how something so small, can bring such great joy to these patients.  If these hats could only cure their cancer, what a wonderful world it would be. Please tell all of your volunteers that I said thank you."  Christy Troxell, Center for Cancer Care, Alabama

"I want to thank you for what you do! I am not sure if you hear from a lot of others or not, but you made a difference in making my mother feel more comfortable! I would like to share what happened with my mother if you don’t mind. My mother wore one of the hats you made. I want you to know that you made a big difference in my mother’s life! She went to chemo 2 times only. She just could not take it…her hair started coming out right after the 1st treatment. She would take one of the hats you made, a white one; and put it on her head. She would smile and say “how do I look?” I would say “beautiful with or without! You are beautiful mama!” She would smile and ask if she should wear it. I would tell her only if she was cold because she still had some hair. When she went to have her chemo, I went to sit with her. The ladies that worked there came in with boxes of hats and asked “...would you like more hats?” She told them that she had taken two or three the last time. They said “you can have more.” She said she felt bad taking more because she wanted to make sure everyone had one. They assured her it was ok and to take some more. It was only a week later my mother was in the hospital. We never knew it was as bad as it was. On November the 1st my dad was in the room with her. She said “what is that up on the ceiling?” My dad said “where?” She said “up there” he looked and said “I don’t see anything. What do you see?” She said “hands, whose hands are those?” My dad put his hand up in the air and waved it at her “like this” “NO, not your hands, those other hands?” She took a breath, and that was it. Our family knew she went to meet her maker when she saw the hands coming to get her. She was so special to us! An angel! Thank you for touching her life and ours! We have so much to be thankful for!"  Tina

"When I was diagnosed with cancer, my friends and family were very unsupportive. Chemotherapy was the first phase of my treatment and I was feeling very abandonned when I received a donated cap. I can't begin to express how much this sign of caring meant to me, but it made me cry to realize that someone thought enough of me - a total stranger - to make a hat. On my darkest days, I wore that hat and knew that someone, somewhere, cared about me and it gave me the encouragement to keep fighting. Bless all of those who provide chemo caps - you are providing so much more than just a hat!"
