This house is seafaring, but it does not have the typical blue. Yellow is her color and breaks stereotypes with her elegance. With hypnotizing light and panoramic views over the Bay of Biscay, the Begoña and Ibon duplex in San Sebastián has it all.

A Terrace With Views Of La Concha Beach

Begoña and Ibon fell in love with these spectacular views of the Bay of Biscay (so as not to be amazed by this panoramic view of La Concha beach!), but they needed to reorganize the distribution of this duplex in San Sebastián, which is why they sought the help of Begoña Susaeta, of SuBe Interiorismo. The house, with two floors and about 120 square meters (with a large terrace of 20 on the ground floor), was in fairly good condition, but with a dark distribution that did not take advantage of its enormous potential.

They Made The Most Of The Views

Begoña Susaeta proposed a comprehensive reform that would bring light and charm to every corner. “They only gave us a few guidelines: they didn’t like blues and they wanted a radical change”, decorator Begoña Susaeta from Sube Interiorismo tells us, for whom this project was not just a comprehensive reform: “Seeing clients so satisfied and proud of his new home meant a special emotion, despite the 30 years I’ve been in this profession.”

A Challenge: The Climate Of The North

The biggest challenge of the reform was the severe climate of San Sebastian. “They wanted underfloor heating and air conditioning throughout the house because, given its south orientation, it is very hot in summer. In addition, a terrace here is beautiful, but complicated in winter”, explains the interior designer. In addition to the air conditioning, they took advantage of the reform to install the comprehensive lighting design by Susaeta Lighting and the laminate flooring by Meister, in Nailan Parquets. “They were speechless when we handed over the house to them,” the interior designer tells us.

It Is Not The Typical “Sailor” Flat

“They wanted a bright and cheerful house, but they only gave us a few guidelines: they didn’t like blue and their favorite colors were yellow ocher and green”, continues Susaeta.

A Large Bookstore Connects The Areas

The key to the reform was the integrated kitchen with the living room and dining room, one of the main wishes of the owners. “It’s our magic light box,” explains the decorator about the spectacular and functional glass enclosure that allows it to be isolated from the living room. Thus, all services in the daytime area are connected and bathed in the light of the Bay of Biscay. The enormous white bookcase designed to measure by Sube Interiorismo helps to create the feeling of continuity. We can already imagine cooking and sharing wine with our friends, right?

Custom Furniture

The interior designer created a custom seat on the wall of the bookcase. In addition to serving as a practical piece of furniture in the hall, it also has space to leave shoes, coats, or beach accessories.

A Practical And Light Dining Room

Between the kitchen and the living room, the dining room was placed, with a round table that lightens the space and avoids uncomfortable corners. An ideal alternative for small dining rooms or integrated into other rooms.

Open Kitchen With An Enclosure

The owners also wanted the living room and the kitchen to be one: “The kitchen is designed for sharing and for cooking while looking at the sea,” continues the decorator.

On The Kitchen Counter

The kitchen enclosure allows this space to be separated and connected to the living room and dining room at the same time. With the carpentry in white, the effect is modern and bright, one of the objectives of the reform.

A Kitchen To Receive

The kitchen was planned to receive, with the cooking and water area overlooking the living room. The hood, embedded in the ceiling, allows a cleaner view of the kitchen.

A Very Original Headboard

In the spectacular bedroom, the laminate flooring runs up the wall and continues across the ceiling to create a beautiful, functional, and original headboard. “It was an idea that we proposed to them and they fell in love with it, and the romance continues”, explains Begoña Susaeta.

Bedroom With A View

The bedroom has views of the bay of San Sebastián and access to a terrace, which bathes the room in light and fills it with spaciousness.

A Warm And Modern Bathroom

The bathroom follows the same fresh aesthetic as the rest of the flat. The original point is put by the stoneware ceramic covering, with a modern and casual geometric print.
